Think Different. Start Here: Curiosity Semester 2 Now Open

I’ve been chatting with mentors and lining up some awesome guest speakers for Curiosity Semester 2!

Do you know Curiosity is the most popular program, with the highest number of registrations and attendees? You can check out our Semeter 1 numbers here. Curisoity is such a great way to meet new people and learn how to think differently.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Curiosity is our free, entry-level entrepreneurship program open to all UQ students, no matter your faculty, background or experience. Whether you're into tech, social impact, NGOs or you just want to try something new, this is where your ideas get the space to grow.

I’m super excited for this next round. I am keen to meet fresh faces, hear wild (and wonderful) ideas, and help students from all walks of life realise that the real magic starts when you fall in love with the problem, not the solution.

One of the biggest takeaways? You don’t need to have it all figured out. But you do need to show up, stay curious, and take action after each session. And honestly, in my time at Ventures, I’ve seen that top academic marks don’t always equal standout performance in programs like Curiosity.

Why? Because while many students are brilliant at taking notes and learning fast, when it comes time to put things into action: they freeze.

“Curiosity was a great intro to thinking creatively and working through real problems. I found it super useful for stepping back, seeing the bigger picture, and getting clear on what problem I was actually trying to solve. The intrapreneurship sessions were very unique and valuable, and pitching early helped me shape my idea fast. For anyone unsure about joining, just give it a go. It’s low pressure, surprisingly fun, and sets you up well for next steps”

Rowan Campbell, Curiosity Sem 1, 2025.

In Curiosity, we blend theory with a lot of hands-on doing. You might be great with numbers, but can you think on your feet and create a sustainable business model? Some students only attend the sessions, and that’s totally okay. But the ones who really stand out? They're the ones building their “passion projects” outside of the workshop hours.

They swap one hour of Netflix for one hour of research.
They spend time sketching out solutions, prototyping, or mapping out personas.
They ask questions.
They collaborate.
They make things happen.

Back in Brazil, where I grew up, there’s a saying: “Quem não é visto, não é lembrado.”
(If you’re not seen, you’re not remembered.) and I think that sums it up perfectly.

The students who thrive in Curiosity are the ones who want to be seen — they show up online and offline, engage beyond the 120-minute sessions, and leave a mark.

So, if you’re someone who wants to be seen, and if you want to build confidence, soft skills, friendships, a portfolio — and some great memories along the way…

Then don’t wait. Express your interest and join us
