Celebrating an extraordinary year of entrepreneurship at UQ

2020 is a year set to change the future of business forever - now is a time for entrepreneurs to be bold and adventures, and find opportunities arising from adversity to create positive change.

We’re proud to showcase and celebrate our community of innovators and leaders that we have seen grow through Ventures programs and activities throughout the year. Join us as we also thank and recognise our amazing industry mentors, volunteers and partners that have attributed to the indisputable success of our 2020 initiatives.

This event coincides with the culmination of the Ventures Industry Challenge where the finalists will pitch their solution to a real-world problem. Please join us at the 2020 Ventures Annual Showcase to celebrate the year that has been and to learn more about the startups who are accelerating ideas to impact.

Hear from our panellists as they talk on the topic 'How can entrepreneurs create change in times of uncertainty?' Moderated by UQ Chief Student Entrepreneur, Rachael Dagge.

About the challenge

For the inaugural 2020 Ventures Industry Challenge we partnered with water innovation company, WaterStart in affiliation with Seqwater, Urban Utilities and Unitywater.

UQ students from across faculties came together and were challenged to build real-world solutions to water scarcity. Throughout the challenge students were mentored by industry experts and supported by regular check-ins with Ventures staff.

Pitch final

The top five teams will pitch their solutions live and compete for multiple prizes worth $15,000 at the Ventures Annual Showcase event.

Our judging panel of industry experts will convene and award the winning teams at the event.
