Affordable energy from repurposed batteries.

What we do.

At PowerWells we repurpose lithium-ion batteries to give them a second life - providing energy to communities without power and diverting toxic waste from landfill.

We partner with organisations, schools and international partners to educate, build and deliver impactful projects in Australia and overseas.

How we do it.

International Development

We work with last mile distributors who serve hard to reach remote villages and communities. We provide training on our manufacturing process, installation and ongoing maintenance of our products.

Schools

School Programs

PowerWells spreads the message of sustainability and empowerment. We work with schools and young people to get them engaged in their education through hand’s on workshops, assembling systems which go on to create a real impact.

Corporate Engagement

We partner with Corporates to help them meet their CSR and ESG compliance commitments. We provide end of life solutions for computer equipment as well team building activities for staff while spreading the sustainability message.

What we Make.

Hardware

Home Solar Systems

We create Home Solar Systems from recycled and repurposed Electronic waste. Our systems are constructed using laser cut perspex from discarded Television screens and monitors and repurposed lithium-ion laptop batteries.

Our systems are designed to be long-lasting, easy to manufacture, repair and maintain.

Software

Our software makes our systems affordable through PAYGo, which means that households can pay for systems with micro payments incrementally over time.

Our software tracks our impact. We can measure energy produced and consumed and we can see how many hours of lighting we have provided and the number of devices we have charged.

How we Make it.

E-Waste

We partner with Corporates and Government Departments to collect end of life IT Equipment, which is either refurbished or dismantled and separated into raw material components.

Components are then distributed to various recycling facilities or are used in the construction of PowerWell systems.

Repurpose

Useful components from electronic waste are given a second life. These includes lithium-ion laptop batteries from computers and power tools, and perspex from TV’s and computers monitors.

We engage various stakeholders in this process from volunteers, international organisations, schools and corporations.

Energy

The batteries are rigorously tested and are then incorporated into new PowerWell units, and paired with a smart battery management system, to monitor and extend the life of the batteries.

The systems with solar panels and LED lights are then provided households and communities without access to clean non-polluting lighting and electricity.
