Chemical engineering and science student, Rachel Huang, is Chief Student Entrepreneur for 2021. Rachel co-founded Powersphere in 2019 when she went through Ventures ilab Accelerator program. Currently, she’s a member of the UQ Entrepreneurship Expert Advisory panel and has made the founders pledge to UQ. Earlier in her degree, Rachel won the Engineers Without Borders Water Challenge People’s choice award in 2018 with a portable water treatment system and the Sustainability Innovation Student Challenge Award (SISCA) early stage proposal with a novel omni-directional wind turbine design. In addition to her entrepreneurial activities, she holds various executive positions in student societies and clubs and she has also been involved in research at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and the Dow Centre. In 2021, Rachel was also awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholarship and became a scholar at the Liveris Academy.
