Virtual Singapore Startup AdVenture

The Virtual Singapore Startup AdVenture is a four-week remote, global learning experience specialising in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Selected UQ student entrepreneurs will learn alongside some of Singapore's best technology startups. Learning and observing alongside other innovators, you will learn first-hand the process of founding, investing and growing an early-stage business.

The 2021 Virtual Singapore Startup AdVenture will take place 22 June - 23 July.

Accelerating Asia


Your Virtual Startup AdVenture starts here

In the lead up to the program start you will be assigned to your startup by our innovation partner Accelerating Asia from their network of high-performing startups in Singapore. You will attend a compulsory pre-program briefing and Q&A session to prepare you for your placement.

Week 1
Placement begins with your matched Singaporean startup, start getting to know your mentors for the month. No time to lose! It's time to hustle!
Week 2
Now you’ve settled in with your new favourite startup, it’s a great time to Zoom in to all the extra compulsory workshops we’ve organised and to network, network network! Meet all the movers and shakers in the local Singapore entrepreneurship community and start dreaming big.
Week 3
Continue to hustle with your matched startups in between more opportunities to make global connections and gain a deeper understanding of the overall startup ecosystem in Singapore.
Week 4
It’s time to farewell your mentors and new colleagues with a wrap-up event. This is your last chance to gain those lasting global connections and make an impact, so pop on that smile and get pumped!


Virtual Startup AdVentures have funding options available for all students currently enrolled at The University of Queensland including all faculties, study levels and international students. 

Please note: successful students will be eligible to receive a $600 stipend.

There are two different funding options and corresponding eligibility criteria for each that you need to consider. The specific funding eligibility is detailed in the below sections, please choose the option that applies to you. 

Applicants must:

  • be fully available for the entire program
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0
  • remain enrolled at UQ for the duration of the program

Funding option 1: UQ scholarship

There are limited UQ scholarships available.

To be eligible for the UQ scholarship you must:

  • See criteria in 'eligibility’ section above. No additional eligibility criteria applies to the UQ Scholarship funding option. 

Funding option 2: NCP grant

There are limited New Colombo Plan (NCP) grants available.

To be eligible for the NCP grant you must:

  • be enrolled at UQ as a Bachelor or Bachelor Honours student for the duration of the program
  • be an Australian citizen
  • get credit for your UQ degree or count towards the course requirements

Current options available for credit towards degree (please note that your Faculty may have other options, so we encourage you to seek further advice from Academic Advisors);

  • Engineering students can use their available professional practice hours to take part in this program. 
  • Faculty of Science students who have completed at least 24 units and have an elective course available can enrol in SCIE3050
  • If you have a free elective you may be able to enroll in RBUS3903 (pending minimum 35 enrollments). These courses are open to students from all faculties.
