Tyson is the ilab Program Manager and leads the UQ Ventures ilab Accelerator program. ilab Accelerator is a three-month program where startups receive $10,000 equity-free funding to help them get ready for market and take their venture to the next level, with a chance to pitch their idea at the ilab Pitch Night.

Tyson was previously a Ventures Program Officer and lead the Ventures Validate program. Validate is designed to help UQ students, staff and alumni to develop a validated business model in an interactive learning space.

Prior to joining Ventures, Tyson co-foundered Yodel - a community-based business listing app designed to connect locals with local businesses. Since establishing Yodel in 2017, his startup has grown significantly, raising capital, completing a major pivot, competing in pitch events across Australia, launching internationally, and becoming one of Brisbane’s most loved members of the startup ecosystem. 

Tyson has a background in corporate sales and partnerships, specialising in identifying and setting up partnerships in new and existing markets.

Tyson is originally from New Zealand and although he has been in Australia for a long time, he still loves the All Blacks and basketball!
