These scholarships provide aspiring student founders with vital financial assistance, expert mentorship, and access to crucial resources, empowering them to seamlessly balance their academic pursuits while transforming their ground-breaking ideas into thriving startups.


2026 scholarships

UQ Ventures Scholarship

The UQ Ventures Scholarship, established in 2023, is designed to support students from all fields who are exploring ideas or building ventures. It recognises that entrepreneurship is a journey with plenty of ups and downs, and that the real impact isn’t tied to a single idea or destination, but to what students learn along the way. The scholarship encourages students to engage with entrepreneurship while completing their studies at UQ, providing financial support alongside access to Ventures’ network of entrepreneurs, mentors, and resources. Ultimately, it aims to equip students with the skills, mindset, and experience that will support them into the future, no matter the career path they choose.

Value

$5,000 per year for up to 2 years ($10,000 total).

Eligibility

Domestic students enrolled full-time at UQ in one of the following programs:

  • Curiosity
  • Validate
  • Hustle
  • Leadhers
  • Empower
  • ilab
  • Momentum 

You also must have or plan to establish a business with an ABN/ACN within 6 months of receiving the scholarship.

Carl Hartmann Scholarship for Future Entrepreneurs

The Carl Hartmann Scholarship for Future Entrepreneurs, established in 2024, is designed to support to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested to undertake studies in innovation and entrepreneurship at UQ.

The scholarship provides financial assistance and access to Ventures’ vast network of entrepreneurs, mentors, and resources.

Carl Hartmann is a renowned Australian entrepreneur and venture capitalist, best known as the co-founder of several successful startups, including Temando, a global shipping and fulfillment software platform, and Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic Spirits, one of the world’s leading non-alcoholic spirit brands.

With a deep passion for innovation and technology, Carl has a track record of scaling businesses on a global level. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to entrepreneurship, including being named in Deloitte’s Fast 50 Technology Awards. 

As a UQ alum, Carl remains committed to giving back to the entrepreneurial community, and his donation of a scholarship at UQ is a testament to his dedication to supporting the next generation of innovators. His scholarship will provide budding entrepreneurs with the financial resources and mentorship needed to turn their ideas into successful ventures, fostering a culture of innovation and growth at UQ.

$4,500 per year for the duration of study (up to 4 years - $18,000 total).

Eligibility

Domestic students enrolled full-time at UQ in any undergraduate degree with a major in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
