Hemanshi Galaiya is an entrepreneur, a PhD student, and a passionate educator. As a bioengineering PhD student at UQ, she is driven by curiosity and a deep desire to solve global challenges such as climate change.

With over 8 years of leadership and project management experience, she has served as an International Engineering Ambassador, President of the Women in Engineering Society, and a Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy alumna. In 2018, she was recognised as a '25 Under 25 Young Achiever' by CSW Global for decentralising education. Hemanshi also served on the RS Group Plc’s Fresh Advisors Board (2020–2022), collaborating with diverse young leaders on global projects.

Hemanshi founded Young Stripes, an experiential education and leadership project aimed at positively impacting STEM careers in Kenya. This initiative has provided improved STEM education opportunities for nearly 1,500 students from low-income backgrounds. She has been recognised as a 'Rising Impact Maker in Africa' at the Global Changemakers Awards and showcased her work on national and international platforms, including as a Finalist for the Falling Walls Lab 2023. In her entrepreneurial journey, she has been selected for competitive business incubator programs with Africa Insight and UQ’s First Empower Women Accelerator.

Hemanshi's mission in life is to ensure that every young person is empowered to reach their true potential irrespective of where in the world they come from.
