Activate is a three-week remote internship program in entrepreneurship where you will work as a team to deliver a business project for an Australian startup, business or non-profit.
This is your opportunity to develop your entrepreneurial mindset, empowering you to be creative, adaptable, tolerant of ambiguity and risk, and able to learn from failure. You will also be able to build your professional networks and further your employability capabilities.
The mid-year 2021 Ventures Activate program will take place 5 - 23 July.

Over three weeks, 5 - 23 July you will meet weekly with your team and work collaboratively to deliver a consulting project for a business or startup.
Through this program you will:
- gain hands-on startup and corporate innovation experience
- develop entrepreneurial skills including problem-solving and collaboration
- gain an understanding of the Australian startup ecosystem and corporate workplace culture
- deliver three project deliverables
- receive a certification upon completion.
You will be supported by a structured program, learning content and a professional mentor throughout the program.
Current students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible to apply, you must be:
- a current UQ student
- be ready to build your knowledge and skills
- able to commit to a minimum of 50 hours each across three weeks
- available from 5 - 23 July
- able to commit to two hours of weekly meetings
Fair Work requirements
Due to the Work Fair Act 2009, students cannot exceed 30 days of unpaid work per calendar year unless they have a professional practice unit as part of their degree. As a result, students are not able to apply for more than one Startup AdVenture, or participate in both Startup AdVenture and Activate programs within the one year.
