Congratulations to UQ alumnus and molecular bioscientist, Alan Robertson, who was one of the winners of The BridgeTech Program’s PitchTech competition held in Melbourne over the weekend. He won an all-expenses paid trip to Boston to attend North America’s foremost gathering of medical technology professionals at The MedTech Conference from 23 to 25 September.
Alan founded ClearSKY Genomics to empower people to understand the information on their genome, revealed to them through genetic testing; or as he pitches it, taking an x-ray to your DNA.
Alan is taking ClearSKY genomics through the University’s accelerator program, ilab. ilab helps founders’ take their ideas to the next level through exposure to the startup ecosystem, refining your business model and introductions to investors and mentors.
At the MedTech Conference, Alan joins 3000 other promising companies to network, conduct business, and gain access to capital and share insights.
“There are so many excellent programs out there to help researchers and scientists take their expertise in the lab and apply it in new and novel ways,” Alan said.
“I’ve learnt so much from programs like BridgeTech, ON Prime and ilab.
“Boston is a hotspot for medical innovation and investment. If things go well, it could really be a transformative experience. I didn’t think my little startup would get over there. I can’t thank BridgeTech enough for the opportunity and ilab enough for preparing me for it.”
UQ Ventures wishes Alan Robertson all the very best in September.
