The founders of Envato and neobank Up have backed Brisbane-based fintech Bloom Impact Investing, as the investing app surpassed $1.6 million in funds under management and 200 customers.
Euphemia, the newly formed family office of Up co-founder Dominic Pym, and Envato founders Collis and Cyan Ta’eed led the $525,000 seed round.
Bloom was founded in 2019 by husband and wife duo Camille Socquet-Clerc and Bertrand Caron – French expats who moved to Brisbane eight years ago – to make it easier for retail investors to put small amounts of money into technologies that help tackle climate change.
Ms Socquet-Clerc was inspired to start the company when she was working at climate tech accelerator Energy Lab and wanted to invest her own money in the climate technologies she was learning about.
“All the investments available around me were only restricted to wealthy, sophisticated investors,” Ms Socquet-Clerc told AFR Weekend.
