Ventures launches extra ilab Accelerator for 2024.

Exciting times are ahead for founders and entrepreneurs in Brisbane as UQ Ventures doubles down on ilab opportunities in 2024, amplifying avenues for innovation and growth. At UQ, Ventures embodies the entrepreneurial ethos of the student, staff, and alumni communities, urging them to be audacious and collaborative in the pursuit of solutions that drive positive change locally and globally.

"Our highly successful collaborations demonstrate that innovation is best achieved through teamwork, and that partnerships and increased stakeholder involvement can drive excellent outcomes that create change," remarks Nimrod Klayman, Head of Entrepreneurship at UQ.

With an unwavering commitment to fostering innovation, UQ Ventures has announced the expansion of one of its most popular advanced initiatives.

The 12-week ilab Accelerator program (nicknamed ‘Chapter 2’) is designed for those ready to take their ventures to new heights. It presents an unparalleled opportunity over three intensive months, as the selected startup teams receive a $15,000 investment, while also providing crucial support to propel their ideas towards market readiness and investor appeal. Founders will collaborate closely with Entrepreneurs in Residence, gaining access to an extensive network of mentors and investors, alongside workshops, industry events, and dedicated co-working space.

The introduction of new Entrepreneurs in Residence for Chapter 2 brings fresh perspectives and immense value to the table, enriching the entrepreneurial ecosystem with their diverse insights and experiences.

Founders from all disciplines are encouraged to seize this chance for growth and impact. Whether their passion lies in social impact, fintech, mining, health, or beyond, the ilab Accelerator program welcomes innovators from diverse backgrounds. Open to UQ students, alumni, and staff alike, it embodies the inclusive spirit of entrepreneurship, empowering individuals to transform ideas into tangible solutions. The program culminates in a celebration of the progress made within the program, known as Pitch Night – an event held to showcase the teams and their ideas to the ecosystem and investor network.

You can hear about what our 2024 ilab Chapter 1 winner, founder, and UQ alum Jamie Tuppack from Xplainable says about his time in the Accelerator.

ilab Accelerator Chapter 2 applications are open now, closing on 7 May.
