Webinar series: Creating startups that can change the world.
The University of Queensland (UQ) Ventures Discovery program supports high school students to think and act with an entrepreneurial mindset. All of our workshops have been designed with an experiential learning approach, leveraged by UQ’s research strengths and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Our webinar series, called ‘Creating startups that can change the world’, is specifically designed for high school students who are interested in learning about entrepreneurship and innovation, and will be delivered by the University’s leading experts.
The sessions will cover topics such as:
- How to find good startup ideas
- What are the main skills needed to develop innovative products?
- Why you should start a business while in high school
- How entrepreneurial skills will help you in your career
- What are the main reasons that new products fail?
- How to build a business that will have a positive impact in the world
This program is most suitable for students from grade 11 and 12, and requires participants to have an intermediate level of English. Teachers are welcome to attend, however, no active involvement is required. This webinar series is fully funded by UQ Ventures Discovery.
Session 1: How to find good startup ideas. Going from 0 to 1.
In this session we will discuss:
- How to find and identify opportunities to start a business or a startup
- The entrepreneurial habits needed to find good ideas and how to practice them

- How to execute a business idea and the role of empathy in developing a new product
