University of Queensland team announced in the finals for the 2020 Global Business Challenge competing for A$100,000.
153 teams representing 48 institutions from across 23 countries registered to compete in the 2020 challenge. UQ team SmartHarvest joins six global student teams in the Virtual Final Round, 27-30 October, with the winning team to be awarded A$100,000 at the Gala Dinner event 30 October.
The Global Business Challenge was established as a global competition for postgraduate students to apply their intellect and expertise toward developing solutions to global challenges. The 2020 theme challenged students to ‘develop novel and sustainable solutions to aid in resource recovery and promote the circular economy’.
The team at SmartHarvest including Zhong Xiang Cheah, Lusi Ou, Xin Gao, James Nguyen - with assistance from Bowen Jiang - formed their solution to help farmers estimate current and upcoming demand, ensuring farmers have the necessary information to make strategic business decisions.
The team is being accompanied and coached by Silvie Ketelaars.
