Get inspired, learn core entrepreneurial skills and immerse yourself in UQ’s community of entrepreneurs with the Ventures Curiosity program.
 
During the program, you will have the opportunity to form and test your early-stage ideas or simply get a taste and explore how you can expand your entrepreneurial mindset. You will also build networks and connect with undergrads, postgrads and PhD students from different disciplines for a strong, well-connected start to your entrepreneurial journey.

This program supports you to gain the motivation, inspiration and confidence to test and explore your ideas in a safe space.

You will attend a combination of weekly workshops and listen to a series of inspirational speakers. Choose your preferred delivery method of online or in-person. Please note you will be required to attend all workshops in your chosen format and the speaker session.

  • Session 1. Entrepreneurship 101
    First steps to become an entrepreneur
  • Session 2. Think like an entrepreneur
    Understand the basics of design-thinking and form teams 
  • Session 3.  Prototyping and MVP
    Find out about lean methodologies, tools for rapid prototyping and understand minimum viable products

    Session 4.  Business models
    Learn about business models and how to build them
  • Session 5.  Pitching
    This session provides best practice on how to build a pitch deck and how to deliver it
  • Session 6.  Get Feedback
    You will pitch your own idea or business and get feedback from mentors

In-person workshop (6 weeks) starts Thursday 10 August 2023, 1-3pm
Online workshop (4 weeks) starts Tuesday 3 October 2023, 5:30pm-7pm

Semester 2 program

Ventures Curiosity is open to students, staff and alumni from all disciplines and study levels. To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • a current UQ student, staff member or young alumni (graduated in the last 10 years)
  • be interested in entrepreneurship and innovation
  • be ready to build your knowledge and skills
  • commit to attending all six workshops

PhD program

Ventures Curiosity PhD is tailored to UQ PhD candidates and early career researchers from all disciplines. To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • a current UQ student, early career researchers, staff member or young alumni (graduated in the last 10 years)
  • be interested in entrepreneurship and innovation
  • be ready to build your knowledge and skills
  • commit to attending all six weekly workshops
