The first confidence-building incubator for women leaders at UQ. 

LeadHers is targeted at women across all disciplines who are, or want to become, a manager, entrepreneur, researcher or academic. The program aims to support women to become more confident in their leadership capabilities while exploring common challenges most professional female leaders face in their career. All female-identifying students, staff and alumni are welcome to apply.

As part of the LeadHers program you will:

  • increase your self-awareness and reflection skills
  • understand elements that undermine your confidence and how to combat them
  • network and learn from leading female speakers
  • learn strategies and actions to become a confident leader
  • have access to resources and networks to support your development after the program finishes.

LeadHers Autumn online program

Throughout six weeks, LeadHers will be delivered in a mixed mode of self-paced activities, peer mentoring and live sessions.

  • 13 August. Being you with confidence
    This live Zoom session will run from 4-5.30pm. 
    In the first week, we'll let you know how to make the most of LeadHers. You'll hear Suzy George (Co-Founder of Sportstech Industries) talk live on developing a sustainable career, followed by a Q&A and a chance to connect with each other. 
  • 20 August. Creating and running a community with confidence
    This session is pre-recorded and you can watch at your own pace. 
    Learn from a panel of amazing women who share how they created empowering communities. Our panellists include Holly Tattersall (Founder & CEO of Women in Digital), Isabella Richards (Founder & President of UQ Women's Network) and Mary-Anne Anderson (SheEO Activator). 
  • 27 August. Building teams, communities and companies with confidence
    This live Zoom session will run from 4-5.30pm. 
    Learn from our panel of experts Eva Erhardt (distinguished Toastmaster) and Samantha Sacchi (Founder, The Self Club) on their experiences launching communities, projects and companies.
  • 03 September. Leading with confidence
    This session is pre-recorded and you can watch at your own pace. Entrepreneur in Residence Ran Heimann (Founder and CEO of Haystack) interviewed UQ Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship) Dr Jessica Gallagher on the opportunities and challenges she's faced throughout her career in senior leadership roles.

    Join LeadHers program lead Cayetana Martinez and Chief Student Entrepreneur Rachael Dagge for a session debrief and mentoring check-in.
  • 10 September. Q&A and speed mentoring
    The live Zoom session will run from 4-5.30pm. 
    Listen to guest mentors Sarah Liu (Founder and Managing Director of The Dream Collective) and Natalie Hurtado (Co-founder EARTH Inc. environmental fintech) followed by a Q&A on their career development, confidence, leadership and professional challenges.
  • 17 September. Putting yourself out there with confidence
    The live Zoom session will run from 4-5.30pm. 
    Personal branding expert Anita Siek (Founder of Wordfetti) will show you how to utilise personal messaging, self-advocacy, networking and social media to advance your career.  

All resources used throughout the program will be shared with the LeadHers community. You will be asked to keep a journal reflecting on each session.

LeadHers is open to all female-identifying students, staff and recent alumni from all backgrounds and levels at UQ.

You are required to attend all live Zoom sessions.
