Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur or a startup business owner, Ventures Sustainability, in collaboration with UQ Sustainability, will allow you to explore the world of social enterprises and gain the knowledge to integrate UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into your idea or business.

The seven-week program comprises of community building, interactive sessions, peer mentoring and guest speakers. You will also benefit from personalised mentoring sessions on how to apply for UQ Green Funds and confidently pitch change-making ideas to the broader community.

Sustainability is a in-person program designed to help you integrate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into your idea or business over a period of 7 weeks. 

Session 1. Wednesday 6 March 2024, 10am-12pm
'Your burning' and 'What is sustainability and SDGs?'.

Session 2. Wednesday 13 March 2024, 10am-12pm.
'Your burning' and 'Ethics'.

Session 3. Wednesday 20 March 2024, 10am-12pm.
Universal design and office hours.

Session 4. Wednesday 27 March 2024, 10am-12pm.
Theory of change and business model canva.

Session 5. Wednesday 10 April 2024, 10am-12pm.
Impact measurement.

Session 6. Wednesday 17 April 2024, 10am-12pm.
Storytelling for impact, pitch for change, and office hours. 

Session 7. Wednesday 24 April 2024, 10am-12pm.
Pitch event.

Ventures Sustainability is open to students, staff and alumni from all disciplines and study levels. To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • a current UQ student, staff member or young alumni (graduated in the last 10 years)
  • be interested in entrepreneurship and innovation
  • be ready to build your knowledge and skills
  • commit to attending all 7 workshops

UQ’s Green Fund aids in the success of student and staff led initiatives every year, providing funds for projects that improve UQ’s sustainability performance.

As part of the program, all students enrolled to UQ Ventures Sustainability program will receive mentor sessions to learn about the Green Fund. Applying for the UQ Green Fund is optional.
