LeadHers

Ventures LeadHers is a confidence-building program for women students, staff, and alumni across all disciplines at UQ. 

Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to grow your leadership capabilities, build connections and gain the confidence to take your first steps in your entrepreneurial and leadership journey.

As part of the Ventures LeadHers online program you will:

  • increase your self-awareness and reflection skills
  • understand elements that undermine your confidence and how to combat them
  • hear from inspiring speakers
  • build your skills through practical workshop sessions
  • learn strategies and actions to increase your confidence to lead 
  • have access to resources and networks to support your development after the program finishes.

Throughout five weeks, this program will be delivered online only, including self-paced activities and peer mentoring.

  • Session 1. Tuesday 4 March, 10-11:30am. Being you with confidence
    Join a guest speaker as they share their insights to find your own confidence.
  • Session 2. Tuesday 11 March, 10-11:30am. Connecting with confidence
    Join a guest speaker as they share their insights to build stronger relationships and connect with confidence.
  • Session 3. Tuesday 18 March, 10-11:30am. Communicating with confidence
    In this interactive workshop we will explore how we can become more persuasive, clear and confident communicators.
  • Session 4. Tuesday 25 March, 10-11:30am. Innovating with confidence
    The ability to solve complex problems and innovate are key skills for leaders in a rapidly changing world. In this practical session, we'll explore how to confidently foster innovation individually and in the teams we lead.
  • Session 5. Tuesday 4 April, 10-11:30am. Stepping up with confidence
    Join a guest speaker as they share their experience of stepping into a leadership role and how you can take the next step in your own career.

All resources used throughout the program will be shared with the Ventures LeadHers community. 

As part of the Ventures LeadHers in-person program you will:

Throughout five weeks, this program will be delivered in-person only at the Ventures GCI space, St Lucia campus, including self-paced activities and peer mentoring.

  • Session 1. Thursday 6 March, 12-1:30pm. Introduction to LeadHers
    Learn more about the program and listen to the panel of leaders.
  • Session 2. Thursday 13 March, 12-1:30pm. Leading with confidence
    In this session, we'll cover strategies to help you lead with confidence. 
  • Session 3. Thursday 20 March, 12-1:30pm. Communicating with confidence
    In this interactive workshop we will explore how we can become more persuasive, clear and confident communicators.
  • Session 4. Thursday 27 March, 12-1:30pm. Innovating with confidence

Join us for a one-day LeadHers program for PhD candidates and graduates. The day will feature interactive workshops, guest speakers and co-current sessions on topical issues for women leaders. 

As part of the Ventures LeadHers PhD program you will:

  • increase your self-awareness and reflection skills
  • be part of a community of researchers supporting each other beyond the program
  • discover alternative career paths beyond academia
  • network and learn from leading researchers
  • gain tools to understand how to overcome confidence related challenges

Program: Thursday 13 June 2024, 9am-1pm

In-person and online program

Ventures LeadHers is open to women students, staff, and recent alumni from all backgrounds and levels at UQ. To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • a current UQ student, staff member or young alumni (graduated in the last 10 years)
  • be ready to build your knowledge and skills
  • commit to attending all five weekly workshops

PhD program

Ventures LeadHers is open to women UQ PhD candidates and PhD alumni from all backgrounds. To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • a current UQ PhD or PhD alumnus
  • be ready to build your knowledge and skills
  • commit to attending the one-day workshop

In-person program

Applications for Ventures LeadHers (in-person) open Monday 6 January and will close 10am 4 March 2025. 

Online program

Applications for Ventures LeadHers (online) open Monday 6 January and will close 12pm 6 March 2025.
