The first confidence-building incubator for women leaders at UQ

LeadHers is targeted to women across all disciplines who are in or want to become managers, entrepreneurs, researchers or academics. The program aims to support women to become more confident in their leadership capabilities while exploring common challenges most professional female leaders face in their career. All female-identifying students, staff and alumni are welcome to apply.

As part of the LeadHers program you will:

  • understand elements that undermine your confidence and how to combat them
  • network and learn from leading female speakers
  • learn strategies and actions to put in place to become a confident leader
  • have access to resources and networks to support you growing after the program finishes.

Semester One program

Throughout the six-weeks sessions will include talks, workshops and networking opportunities.

  • Week 1. Being you with confidence
In the first week, we'll introduce you to how to make the most of LeadHers. You'll hear from our Ventures champions as well as connect with each other.
  • Week 2. Presenting with confidence
During this workshop, you will learn how to be a confident public speaker and how to navigate meetings in the workplace.

Week 3. Creating and running a community with confidence
Learn from a panel of amazing women who will share how they created empowering communities. Our panellists include Holly Tattersall (Founder & CEO Women in Digital), Isabella Richards (Founder & President of UQ Women's Network) and Mary-Anne Anderson (SheEO Activator).

    Week 4. Writing with confidence
Our panellists will teach you how to use confident language in emails and assignments to business plans, proposals and academic papers. Our panellists include Natasha Neale (Policy Officer), Bernadette Hyland-Wood (Researcher) and Melody Dobrinin (Linguistics expert).
  • Week 5. Leading with confidence
Our Entrepreneur in Residence (Ran Heimann) interviews UQ's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship) Dr Jessica Gallagher on the opportunities and challenges she's faced throughout her career in senior leadership roles.
  • Week 6. Putting yourself out there with confidence
During this workshop, our facilitator Rosie Odsey (Strategic Marketing Consultant) will take you through how to utilise personal branding, self-advocacy, networking and social media to advance your career.

All resources used throughout the program will be shared with the LeadHers community. You will be asked to keep a journal reflecting on each session.
